Task to General Surroundings, recommended max ratio 5:1

The graph below shows the luminance ratios for the Task to General Surroundings view context (max of such ratios as, Book to Partition Wall, or to desk drawers beyond work space, or to window sill for station 1) for each station and time for which these measurements were taken (from March 7 to 18, 2005.  When the values are at the bottom of the graph, it means I did not have a relevant measurement to which to compare the book's luminance, so these values should be ignored.  Also to note is that on occasion, I measured views from the workspace to the left of workspaces 2, 3, and 4, which I called 2 B, 3 B, and 4 B.  This change was done either because there was work junk arrayed on my usual station which would interfere with my measurement, or because I wanted to get closer to the partition on the left, to include its effects and luminance in my study.  I therefore gave these x and x B bars the same color, and they could be essentially considered as one station.

As you can see here, I don't have as many measurements which were applicable to this case.  It was a bit more difficult to find relevant surfaces to measure.  Station 1 has the most, as it has lots of features in front of it that were good for the further stations' task to remote case.  All the really high values we see here are contrasts between the book and the dark Desk Drawers of the desk which is in front of and beyond the work station.

Since Station 1 is the only one with complete, data, below is a graph of its results only, to make its values more visible.  All of the values which are a bit too high are for Book to Window Sill, though Book to Wall in Front of Desk is also high.
